WOLFSTAR
Wolfstar sat chatting with a few apprentices, his eyes holding a stern yet warm light to them. "work hard or I'll hold you back a moon." he warned seriously. The apprentices nodded with wide eyes, knowing the large tom was true to his word. "As long as you do what you're told and obey your elders, you should be fine though." the leader smirked. That earned a less tense nod from most of the apprentices. These apprentices sure do seem scared of me....am I really that scary? he thought as he continued the conversation.
Once he noticed a few of the mentors heading over, Wolfstar stood from his crouch. "alright, training time! Have fun." he chuckled somewhat darkly. He knew how hard the apprentices trained. It was practically hell for them, but that earned them a strong body and lots of knowledge.
Maybe it's time I take on an apprentice...though I do have my paws full with my Clan and new deputy... the reddish-brown tom thought as he padded to his den to rest. He'd been on several patrols and walks. His body was aching from pushing himself in training. Hopefully I can sleep peacefully.....or not.... he thought, turquoise eyes opening just after closing. He sat up from laying down, ears swiveling toward the sound of an approaching cat. He tasted the air to see who'd bothered him.

Snowsong had just arrived back into the camp she had been out with a hunting patrol. She looked around the camp after she dropped her load on top of the growing pile. As she looked around she saw that, Wolfstar was conversing with a group of apprentices. Warm feelings filled her body as she looked at him, but she quickly squashed them. He was always cold and kept to himself, and she didn't feel the need to fight her way inside. That and it just wasn't worth it. She'd lose him in the end anyway.
When the mentors began to show up, Wolfstar left the group and headed towards his den. Snowsong was sure that he hadn't eaten and she needed to talk to him about patrols and things anyway so she picked up a fish off of the pile and headed towards his den. When she stepped in, she say that he was laying down probably getting ready to take a nap, but she didn't care at this point in time. She set the food down in front of him
She sat in front of the food and looked at him. "I need to have a word with you, and I thought you might be hungry." Snowsong explained her presence. She kept a neutral tone with him. It was always better that way, and kept everything professional. Which is how it's supposed to be. Snowsong reminded herself mentally to keep from thinking other thoughts. They had been known to creep into her mind and she didn't like it. [/scrolly]

WOLFSTAR
Wolfstar's eyes hardened as he saw Snowsong enter the den. the she-cat didn't seem to like him very much. He'd chosen her because she seemed dependable. Of course the white warrior hadn't disappointed him responsibility wise. But her business-like attitude made his chest tighten. Why does she affect me like this? Am I sick? the brown-ginger tabby thought, his face hardening as he thought. After a long moment, he noticed he was staring right at her. Bewilderment lit in his bright eyes for a brief heartbeat before reverting back to emotionlessness. I need to be business-like too! I'll show her that I'm not interested either. he thought, frowning deeply.
It took him another long moment to clear his thoughts and speak. "Thank you, I could've gotten something myself...." he mewed huskily. After clearing his throat, he wiped the frown off his face and replaced it with a cold, indifferent yet confident neutral expression. "What do you need to talk about?" he asked slowly, wrapping his long tail tightly around his paws. His pale blue eyes stared sharply into hers. He was trying frantically to remain calmly indifferent like usual.

It always felt like Snowsong was waging an inner war when she was around her leader. He was a strong, dependable, and attractive cat. What are you saying?" Snowsong scolded herself. This is why she always acted so neutral when around him. She couldn't think this way. Her fur prickled with the feeling of his eyes staring into her. When she looked into his eyes, she saw the transition from cold harshness to a look of pure bewilderment.
Was he waging a similar war within his own mind? Snowsong wouldn't know because she would never be able to read his mind. Although she wished, she could. It would be so much easier that way. She wouldn't have to dance around subjects or act a certain way around him. Wolfstar claimed that he could have gotten himself his own food. Typical man won't accept any help. She said to herself he neutral face breaking into a frown for a moment. It was quick though and she gained composure quickly. "I don't mind. I was coming in here anyway."
As he spoke to her Snowsong could see all the emotions in Wolfstar's eyes. It was like there was a thunderstorm raging on behind the dark orbs. The swarms of emotions were trying to keep himself in check. It took her a moment to remember what she had come in here for. She stopped letting her mind wonder and focused. "I wanted to talk about patrols. I don't think there need to be as many on the borders. The river's high and no cat would even try to cross right now. That and everyone is trying to rebuild themselves." Snowsong voice her opinion confidently. [/scrolly]

WOLFSTAR
Wolfstar had to really rake his brain to remember what the white she-cat had said. "Yes, I see your point. We will lessen the patrols slightly and use that time to train our warriors more." he said in a calm, confident, and slightly distant tone. All of this constant change of emotion was draining the tom. his thickly lined eyes drooped and he fought to hold back a yawn. Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like a while alone....I'm afraid I have some...consulting to do." he said with a small yawn. Humor slipped through the icy barrier he'd created.
Looking down, he remembered the fish Snowsong'd brought him. I suppose I'll eat that before I go to sleep... he thought as his belly rumbled. The stern leader glared at the fish, debating on whether to eat it now or not. He usually waited until he was alone, but he was maddeningly hungry now. Finally, he dipped his head and tore a good sized chink out of the fish, chewing swiftly then gulping it down. He swiped his pink tongue across his muzzle and took another bite. Looking up at Snowsong, his pelt prickled with embarrassment. "....Would you like to share?" he asked.

It took Snowsong a second to realize that Wolfstar was actually agreeing with her. She thought that she would have to argue with him. The fact that she had prepared a counter argument for everything she thought he would say seemed silly now. Maybe she should ask him for things when he was tired more often. It seemed to get her what she wanted with little to no resistance. Then as Snowsong focused one once more she saw that her leader was really and truly tired. His eyes gave him away, and Snow could see the fight to stay awake from within. It made him look vulnerable and made him a little more relatable.
It was nice to think of him as someone she could talk to in a friendly tone. He always seemed so pulled away from the rest of the clan, like he really didn't want to be forced to have any sort of conversation with someone. Maybe he really didn't like talking, and she should just keep their relationship where it was. One of a leader and deputy a business relationship and nothing more. Snowsong didn't want to leave it that way though. She liked the idea of it being more than just that though. Stop it, you're being ridiculous. Snow mentally scolded herself.
Wolfstar broke her out of her own little world when he offered to share with her. Snow debated for a moment on whether or not she should. She didn't want to give him the idea that she actually like spending time with him, but she was extremely hunting and hadn't eaten since she left early that morning. "Um…alright we can." She agreed to sharing. She knelt down on the other side of the fish and took a bite herself. Of course it was smaller than that of Wolfstar's. Granted her mouth was smaller and she didn't want to seem like a pig. [/scrolly]

WOLFSTAR
Wolfstar took another bite then sat up from his crouch. He was suddenly nervous to have his muzzle so close to his deputy's. But why? No...I'm not nervous....just sick... he thought. His denial made the tom even more weary."I...think I should be going now. I need to have Pebblestep check something...." Wolfstar mumbled, standing up swiftly. His ginger-brown pelt prickled with unease and the den was suddenly suffocating.
Clearing his throat the large tom stumbled forward a few steps and found himself face to face with a wall of his den.His eyes drooped with lack of sleep. The poor leader hadn't been able to sleep at all for days. Tail drooping, his legs gave out and he slammed into the floor right next to Snowsong, muzzle resting against her shoulder. "Sorry..." he muttered, trying to get up.
Her sweet scent overwhelmed him. He found himself inhaling it eagerly like the scent of fresh kill. Maybe even better. His heavy lids opened reluctantly to look up at his snowy white deputy. "I'm such a fool..." he sighed.

The sudden movement scared Snow, and she felt like she might have jumped out of her pelt. She didn't raise from her crouch, but stared at her leader. What is wrong with him? Snow questioned silently. When he said that he was going to see the medicine cat, she started to worry. She wondered if he was okay. She hoped nothing was too wrong. "Are you alright?" He seemed a little unstable and she worried that something was seriously wrong. Maybe he should go see Pebblestep.
Panick set in when Snow noticed how wobbly Wolf was getting. When he walked towards the wall in the den, she could see that he was probably just tired. Then he fell and she hoped he hadn't hurt himself. I wonder how long it's been since he's slept. Snow mused to herself recalling how tired he had been. Then he apologized for landing on her. "It's okay. " Snow didn't mind him being so close. It was kind of nice.
Snow purred softly when he called himself a fool. She had thought that for a long time, but wasn't going to say so. "I think you just need to sleep." She told him. "And that doesn't make you a fool." If he had seemed vulnerable before, the leader looked like a scared mouse now. She kind of like him this way. It was easier to let her emotions do as they wished. [/scrolly]

WOLFSTAR
Wolfstar closed his eyes slowly. "but...the Clan...needs...me awake....." he murmured drowsily. His long tail was strewn across Snowsong's. "What...if.....something hap...ensss..." he continued huskily. "what if they come back...what if...they try to take me...away?" he mumbled about his parents, voice tired and sad yet bitter. The usually guarded leader was now as vunerable as a kit and cute as a baby rabbit with his broken whispering.
Breathing slowing and a soft snore escaping his maw, the red-brown tom faded into a deep sleep, still laying basically on top of the smaller cat. He was very heavy whjat with all his muscle. He snuggled closer to the comforting scent of the deputy, burrowing his muzzle in her soft fur.

Snowsong purred at her leader. It wasn't a common thing for someone to catch him at such a vulnerable state. She was glad she had. Of course it was sort of an accident, and might never happen again, but for now she would hope. This made her feelings towards him grow and her body warmed up at the thought of being this close again. He probably doesn't even really know what's happening right now. The warning was issued silently, so that she wouldn't get her hopes up. Nothing was set in stone here and everything could easily go back to normal once he woke up.
Speaking of him waking up, he was getting kind of heavy. It wasn't uncomfortable, but she couldn't stay in here all night. There were things to do. She had to tell the senior warriors the new plans, and get the patrols for the morning in order. She tried to lift herself up, but couldn't get out from under his weight the way she was sitting. Guess you're stuck. She told herself. It took her a moment, but she got herself into a more comfortable position. When he snuggled closer into her she was glad that she hadn't left.
As he slept she let her mind wonder once more. This time she wouldn't be interrupted. Snow thought about her childhood and when her brother passed. She never thought that she would get close to anyone again, but here she was doing the exact opposite of what she always said she would do. It was silly really that she had thought that she could keep herself from getting close to someone. She had always dreamed of having a family though even that seemed impossible now. As she thought about the impossible she remembered something. He's younger than me. He'll never want me around. This broke her sense of attachment and she began to wiggle out from under him. Once she was free she licked the top of his head once and padded out of the den. For the best. She told herself sadly.

Wolfstar'd been dreaming vividly of his parents attacking him. They were trying to kill him! Suddenly, a warm white light had surrounded him. The warmth he felt was nice. It came along with a sweet scent that calmed him instantly. He recognized this smell as Snowsong and swiftly opened his eyes when he noticed her warmth was gone. Standing clumsily to his paws, the red-brown tom looked around frantically for hid pure white deputy. "Snowsong?" after looking around some more, his ears drooped in disappointment. Damn...maybe she's around the camp... he thought hopefully.
Not even bothering to give his messy pelt a quick groom, the usually calm leader sprinted into the Riverclan clearing. His broad head swung to and fro, searching for the familiar white pelt of Snowsong. A deep frown occupied his handsome features as he searched everywhere for her. His eyes brightened once he spotted her. "Snowsong!" he bellowed, deep voice seeming relieved. His pelt prickled with embarrassment once he understood why he had been so frantic. I thought she'd disappear... he thought with a sigh.

Snowsong had gone about the tasks that she had set for herself. It kept her mind off of sad thoughts and in a productive mode. She went and talked to the senior warriors about the new plan, and had organized the last patrol of the day along with picking out cats to go on the morning patrol. Now she was talking to one of the mentor's who had asked her a question. She was deep in conversation when she heard the familiar mew of Wolfstar. Her whole body froze. She didn't think she was going to have to deal with him until morning. He had been so tired. Snow hadn't worked out what she had to say to him yet.
Sure that her face had portrayed a brief moment of panic. After a deep breath, she collected herself and turned to face her leader. "Yes?" She said nonchalantly said. He looked like he had gotten up without fixing his fur. It was sticking up in odd places, and he looked kind of like a crazy rogue. Though the last part hadn't always been a lie, he was a good cat now. He looks a little panicked. She said to herself as she looked him over. There was still a hint of fear in his eyes. She wondered if he had had a bad dream. That made her heart hurt a little. Snow wanted to protect him from whatever it was. Stop, you're supposed to be fighting this. Snow scolded herself, and waited to hear what her leader had to say. [/scrolly]

Wolfstar collected his scattered thoughts quickly and then cleared his throat, a nervous habit of his. "Nothing...I'd like to speak to you for a moment..." he mewed slowly, regaining his confident yet cold reserve. He quickly licked down the fur that was sticking up. His tail was now still and low to the ground. The large tom's weariness returned quickly, but he fought it. The stubborn leader needed to sort out this strange atmosphere between him and Snowsong first.

Snowsong stared at him in a confused sort of way before turning to the other cat she had been talking to you. "Excuse me." She said apologetically. When she turned back to Wolfstar, she led him away from the general crowd and to a secluded area of the camp. For a moment she just stood there and stared at him waiting for him to begin talking. As she waited she observed him. It was amazing how quickly he could regain his composure and become the same cool and collected cat. He had seemed so worried and panicked just a moment ago and now he was fine. Just as she had seen him so vulnerable before. That was one of the things that made her gravitate towards him. He was always a mystery. It was nice to not be around someone predictable. It made life more interesting and exciting. There she went giving him praise in her mind again. Snow really needed to get a grip on her emotions. Life would be much easier that way. [/scrolly]

Wolfstar's calm pokerface fell away once they were alone. There laid a scared and confused young tom. "Snowsong..." he let his head hang, ears drooping in defeat. "I...er...around you, I feel weird. And I just had a dream about my past...but you were there. Sort of..." he said softly yet audibly. The dark reddish brown tom peered at his deputy sheepishly. "Do you have an idea of what's wrong with me? I know I should go to Pebblestep for this...but it has to do with you so..." he was looking at his paws nervously. Have you ever felt like this? am I sick or something?" he asked with an uncharacteristically vunerable tone.
