Snowsong felt restless in her den and had decided to get up and take a quick walk. There was a lot on her mind lately with all the tension still flowing through the air. Sometimes it felt like she could slice it with her claws. It always made her nervous that something would happen within her own clan and she would have to fight her brethren. She wanted to be happy that the prey was good and that the clan was protected by the risen river, but it seemed impossible with small feuds breaking out within.
Knowing that with everything on her mind she would never be able to sleep, Snowsong crept softly from her bed and padded across the camp to the entrance. She slipped out into the dark night and walked towards the river. Not wanting anyone she decided to head to the waterfall. The river was high enough that most wouldn't try to go up there and maybe she would have peace once more. As she grew nearer she could here the water from the fall slapping against the water below it. It was a peaceful sound.
Snowsong found a nice dry place to sit and made herself comfortable. She stared up at the sky and briefly questioned her own beliefs. Sometimes it seemed like there really wasn't a Starclan, but she couldn't allow herself to think that. Her brother was up there somewhere and was always watching her. She could feel it sometimes. It was nice to think that she wasn't alone even when she felt like the entire world had abandoned her. As she sat there staring she started to space a little unaware of everything that was going on around her. [/scrolly]

Hollyhock had spent a good portion of the day by the water's edge, as most of her clan did. It was hard to escape the element, really. She had no complaints though. It was a great privilege to be offered such a vital aspect of nature so freely and constantly. Holly always thought Riverclan to be the most blessed in that sense.
She lay on her side today, next to the waterfall that was so infrequently visited. Her pale green eyes blinked slowly as she began to drift off. It was maybe not the smartest idea - sleeping outside of camp. The she-cat had so few worries that she couldn't imagine any danger reaching her. Despite her quiet nature, she knew herself to be quite capable in combat; no worries there.
The black and white warrior was quick to notice Snowsong's arrival and smiled upon spying those deep green eyes. She didn't seem to be noticed; they were on opposite sides. The white she-cat looked to the sky, as if for answers. Hollyhock, now fully awake, stood quickly and made her way across the river, bounding with each leap as far as she could. Holly successfully only got her feet wet.
She approached Snowsong with a sweet smile on her face."Hello Snow, what're you doing out here?"

Snow hadn't noticed the black and white she-cat approaching her. She was too far gone in her own thoughts to register that her friend had come to join her. When the other she-cat spoke, Snow was quickly brought back to reality. She jumped scared and surprised. It took her a moment to realize who had talked to her before she let her guard down. She smiled back at her friend. "You scared me." Snow let herself clam down before she spoke to answer her friend's question. "I couldn't sleep, so I decided to take a walk."
Ever since the war had ended Snow found it harder and harder to get a full night's sleep. It seemed that as everything started to seem more peaceful it was making her more and more uneasy. She was always waiting for something bad to happen, and hadn't allowed herself to just enjoy the good place they were in now. She knew all too well that the only reason the fighting had stopped was because everyone was dying and there would be no survivors. Even with the clan getting back on its feet she looked around every corner with her guard up. The only time that she felt calm was when she was around certain cats who she knew could take care of themselves. Her friend Holly was one of those cats. That was probably why they got along so well. Snow didn't have to worry about losing her. It was kind of a nice feeling. [/scrolly]

Hollyhock giggled a little and smiled. She hadn't meant to frighten her friend! The black and white she-cat sat down close to Snowsong, wrapping her black tail around her small white feet. She hadn't spoken to the female in a long time; what was new with her? She seemed troubled. Holly knew how not being able to sleep could be - miserable. Holly herself had even sought the refuge of another area in order to remedy the problem. It usually worked. For her, anyway. What could be so wrong that the pleasant white she-cat couldn't sleep?
Holly tilted her head a little as she scanned Snowsong's soft features and then her emerald green eyes. They were darker than Holly's and always amazed the black and white cat with their vivid color. She was a lucky one, to be sure. "Oh," she said quietly. Holly wasn't quite sure of the perfect words to comfort her. "Do you want to talk about it?" She supposed there might not actually be anything wrong and Snow simply could not sleep. Something told her such was not the case...
Hollyhock's tail began to curl up and lay flat in a slow cycle as she spoke to Snowsong, her words never getting much above a normal cat's whisper. Part of her did want their conversation to be uninterrupted and the other half was simply her being her. Holly had always been a quiet speaker. She flicked her ears forward, directing all of her attention to Snowsong.

It wasn't easy to catch the white she-cat off-guard, but today was gull of oddities. Nothing ever seemed the same anymore and Snow just wished that it would all go back to normal, that tomorrow she could wake up in the morning and not have to worry about the poorly crafted truce would break and chaos would be set loose on them again. There weren't a lot of cats to worry about yet because they were still trying to replace all they had lost, but still it was a lot of weight to worry about so many cats at once. All these thoughts made it hard to keep herself on her toes.
Holly's voice brought Snow back from her distant thoughts. She really needed to get them in check. It wasn't good for her to be so distant. Something could happen without her knowledge. Snow took a minute to think about whether or not she wanted to tell her friend what was going on in her head. She didn't want to sound like a kit, but maybe it would be good to get it out. She'd start with a general statement and then if Holly wanted more information she would tell her. They were friends after all and she could trust Holly. "I'm worried about all the tension. I don't want it to be stuffed down until it blows up again." Snow said what she had been feeling as well as she knew how.
